The brain monitors perimeter and interior sensors, such as magnetic contacts and glass-break sensors at the entry points, and infrared motion detectors at vital interior areas to report intrusion. The brain also monitors fire, smoke, and gas detectors. When a sensor alerts the brain of an emergency, the brain sounds a siren and/or activates warning lights, and simultaneously alters the 24-hr monitoring service. The service verifies the alarm and dispatches police, fire or medical help when necessary.
